A few weeks ago, I addressed the issue of the “The Most Common Question In Homeopathy”. That question is from the new patient, who almost always asks: “Can homeopathy cure …. such and such…. a disease?” Again, yesterday, I was asked by a new patient on the phone, “Can you cure Rheumatoid Arthritis?” And as always, my answer is rather vague.

I try to explain that a “TRUE” holistic physician will never try to cure a “disease”, but rather always work on treating the “person”. In other words, “The person, not the disease” is the important thing in holistic treatment. In fact, if you go to a holistic doctor who tells you they will cure your migraine headaches, or your PMS, then in many ways, this is not a “true” holistic physician.

Your symptoms of migraine headaches, bronchitis, infertility, PMS, hot flashes, etc., are only the tip of the iceberg. So let’s address what is really under water and unseen, under the tip.

But this explanation is never enough for the new patient who doesn’t really care about “The Whole Person Approach” and just wants their pain to be gone, or to loose 30 pounds, or to be rid of their sciatica, or their anxiety or depression. So what is a homeopath to do? Lie to the patient, and say, “Yes, homeopathy will cure your strep throat, your high blood pressure, and so on?”

The more authentic path is to be genuine, real and straightforward with the patient, and let them know that the homeopathic physician isn’t really treating symptoms at all, but rather, treats the whole person.

Then, tonight, I came across a great article, by a teacher of mine. A great teacher says what is very hard to convey, in simple terms. So I am sharing with you this teaching from one of my homeopathic mentors. He makes the point I am trying to make, but much more simply and explicitly.
