Alternative Natural Treatments for Women’s Health
by Dr. Randy Martin, OMD, PhD, LAc

My specialty over the past 30+ years has always been Women’s Health. In fact, in 1985 I wrote my Ph.D. doctoral dissertation on Alternative Treatments for PMS using Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Nutrition and Classical Homeopathy.

Woman’s health issues are still the largest segment of health problems that I treat. Here is a summary of some of the issues you or your friends may have which are successfully treated using my Alternative types of medical treatments.

Infertility and Childbirth – with an increasing number of couples and single women chosing to wait to give birth, infertility is often an issue. Various alternative treatments are quite helpful in achieving your goal of having children. Acupuncture and homeopathic medicine are also useful to have in the hospital setting during childbirth, both to reduce pain, and help the birthing process progress more quickly.

PMS – food cravings, cramps, acne, and mood swings are just a few of the PMS symptoms that alternative treatments are very effective for. More than a few women have credited me with saving their marriages by alleviating thier PMS symptoms.

Menopausal Symptoms – hot flashes, mood swings, incomnia, headaches, dryness, constipation, and a host of other symptoms are common during hormonal change of life. Acupuncture, Chinese herbs and Classical Homeopathy can not only lesson the symptoms, but also ease the transition emotionally.

Natural Breast Enhancement – acupuncture and Chinese herbs have been used for centuries to help women not only firm, but also to enlarge and enhance the breasts.

Facial Wrinkles – cosmetic acupuncture is well-known to help lesson signs of aging. Many women come to me for acupuncture alone, and manuy others add facial needles to their other on-going acupuncture treatments.

Fibroids / Cysts / Endometriosis – the condition allowing for lumps and discord in the reproductive area, according the Chinese medical theory, is called Damp Heat in the Lower Burner. What this means is that there is severe “stagnation” in the area of the uterus/overies. We treat this using Chinese herbs and acupuncture. Changes in diet are also helpful. Treatment is quite successful!

Natural Hormone Replacement Alternatives – many women do need some sort of hormone replacement during life cycle transitions. We can use Chinese and Western herbs, instead of traditionally used parmaceutical hormones, or so-called “bio-identical hormones”….. and without the side effects.
