Classical Homeopathy
Update
Many
of you responded to my previous newsletter on "Classical Homeopathy"
and it does my heart good to see so many people seeing such tremendous
results from this very special healing modality. I love Classical
Homeopathy, as many of you know, and much of my energy is devoted to
continued study.
But
remember that if you don't follow through with regular follow-up
appointments, the initial homeopathic prescription will not do you much
good. Homeopathy isn't like Western drugs, where you take it and then
you are done.
With
Classical Homeopathy we have to change the potency or remedy on a
regular basis. Or often times, we will keep the same remedy and potency
for quite a while. But you can't decide this on your own! Most times,
my prescription is only meant for about four to six weeks and unless
you check in for a brief consultation, you'll have no way of knowing
what to do next.
The
follow-up may take anywhere from five to twenty minutes, depending on
what has taken place. I may only need to hear a few things to know what
you need to take next, or I may need to hear a lot more information at
times. If I need more time with you, I'll either call you later in the
evening to ask more questions or often I'll do some research on my own,
called repertorization, and then get back to you within a few days.
Please
stick with it, and you will be utterly amazed with the results! It's an
incredibly powerful transformer.
Did
You Know...
- The
Norwegian Parliament unanimously voted to instruct the government to
incorporate homeopathy and accupuncture into the official health care
system of the country!
- According
to the United Nations World Health Organization, more than 70% of the
world's population relies on non-traditional systems of
healing.
- The
present Boston University School of Medicine was originally founded as
a Homeopathic Medical College. In the early 1900's homeopathy was
practiced by approximately one-quarter of all medical doctors! But with
the discovery of antibiotics, most doctors stopped using homeopathy and
the schools slowly stopped teaching it as well.

Amino Acids and Your Digestion
When
a person eats enough protein and digests and assimilates that protein,
they are well on their way to Optimal Health. But many people have a
problem breaking down protein into a form usable by the body.
Proteins
in the body and the brain are formed from amino acids. The body builds
over 50,000 proteins and over 15,000 known enzymes from amino acids.
All enzymes, including digestive enzymes are made from amino acids,
sometimes with vitamins acting as co-enzymes and trace minerals.
Without
amino acids, vitamins and minerals, we often become irritable,
depressed, forgetful, fatigued or unmotivated. A great place to begin,
if you feel you may be missing the important amino acids, vitamins or
minerals, is to take these 3 specific products (all available through
this newsletter):
- Free
Form Amino Acids. These offer the amino acid precursors, or building
blocks, so that your body can manufacture the needed protein.
- Phyto-Aloe.
This new product is made from freeze dried vegetables; each easy to
digest capsule provides the equivalent of 8 oz. of vegetables. This
provides the basic vitamins and minerals that most of us lack due to
poor eating habits.
- Panplex
2 Phase. This is a digestive enzyme which is to be taken with meals to
assure you are breaking down and assimilating everything you eat. If
you ever have gas, bloating or burping, you may not be digesting your
food. So even if you eat well, you are not absorbing the necessary
enzymes and nutrients.

Meditation-Based Stress Reduction
In
this study of patients with anxiety disorders, University of
Massachusetts researchers concluded that individuals taught meditation,
in a once per week, eight-week class, made lasting changes in their
lives by developing their own inner resources for growth and healing.
Participants
learned a technique known as "mindfulness meditation," which they were
required to practice at home. Specific improvements included reduction
in depression and anxiety, less panic attacks and more mobility for
agoraphobics. Most participants were still practicing the technique at
a three-year follow-up and were able to decrease or eliminate
medications they had been taking.

Sea Cucumber For Pain Relief
The
sea cucumber (strichopus chloronotus) has been used by Chinese cooks as
a delicacy, longevity tonic and disease preventative since ancient
times. Modern scientific analysis shows the sea cucumber is high in
protein, low in fat, and high in chondroitin sulfate, an extract
supplement commonly used in the treatment of arthritis pain and the
treatment of cancer.
I
have been using sea cucumber in the form of Marine Care Forte for the
treatment of arthritis pain, common joint pain and
inßammation, knee pain, low back pain, shoulder and neck
pain, and degenerative joint disease. Reports are outstanding, with
most patients experiencing significant pain reduction within two to
three weeks of starting the formula.

Federal Government Reclassifies Acupuncture Needles
Up
until recently, accupuncture needles were considered experimental by
the federal government and they were technically only allowable for
investigation or research purposes. Although individual states' laws
govern the actual practice of accupuncture, federal laws have
controlled the sale of the needles themselves.
On
March 29, 1996, thanks to massive lobbying efforts by accupuncture
organizations, the FDA reclassified needles as medical devices for
general use by "qualified practitioners as determined by the States."
What
this means in practical terms is that insurance companies who were
refusing to cover accupuncture will now be much more likely to change
their policies. The FDA decision will also help the chances of Medicare
and Medicaid programs paying for accupuncture treatment. This is a
major victory for accupuncture and for complementary medicine. We are
well on the way to accupuncture being included in every aspect of the
health care system in the U.S.

Patient Testimonial
This
is but one of the many success stories Dr. Martin frequently hears from
his patients:
"In
July, I went to the doctor and he gave me an ultrasound test. He said
he saw something which might be a small cyst in the uterus. About a
month later I went to another doctor and he said it was endometriosis
and that there were also some fibroids.
I
heard Dr. Martin on the radio one evening and called to see if he could
treat fibroids. He gave me several bottles of herbal tablets and some
homeopathic medicines, along with weekly accupuncture treatments.
After
two months, I went back to the doctor for an ultrasound test and he
said that there were no fibroids or cysts. I thank Dr. Martin for
helping to cure me and am now a firm believer in the value of
accupuncture & herbs!"

Simple Measures for Prevention Against Colds,
Infection & Disease
- Never
share your make-up, toothbrush, combs or hair brush. Be careful when
testing cosmetics in stores never to use products which others have
touched. Shared make-up spreads bacteria, viruses, fungi and possibly
herpes.
- Never
sneeze or cough into your hands. Use a tissue and immediately discard
it.
- Wash
your hands often, especially after coming into contact with others, and
always before wiping your face or nose. Cold viruses are spread by
shaking hands, touching doorknobs, etc.
- Use
a tissue when touching toilet seat handles or door knobs in the public
restrooms when at all possible.
- Avoid
others who may be infected. Ask your co-workers to stay at home when
they feel sick and are sneezing. Avoid plane travel if possible, since
the air is recirculated.
- Eighty
percent of illness enters through the membranes of the nose and eyes.
Purchase the personal ozone generator advertised in this newsletter to
protect you while flying.
- Take
plenty of buffered Vitamin C, dry or emulsified vitamin E, beta
carotene and add the appropriate herbs and homeopathic remedies to your
daily regimen. See Dr. Martin's book for specific remedies.
- Get
plenty of quality rest, take naps when possible, don't "stuff" your
feelings, and exercise daily.

Acupuncture
For Carpal Tunnel
Syndrome
Thirty
six carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) patients were treated with
accupuncture at Pc 6 and Pc 7 (points on the wrist) as the major
accupuncture points for at least 4 treatments. Half the patients had
previously had surgery on one wrist but the operation did not relieve
the pain, numbness or tingling in the fingers.
All
patients responded immediately to the accupuncture treatments.
Long-term follow-up showed that 82% received good long-term relief
after accupuncture treatment for up to two years, and some even longer.

Dr. Gregory Chen, Birmingham, AL - Published by the Institute

Healing & Frustration
Patience is Key
Do
you find yourself coasting along fine, feeling great, and all of a
sudden you come down with what seems like a bizarre set of symptoms you
have never had?
You
come to the doctor and expect an instant cure... of course! We live in
a culture that expects everything to occur instantaneously. But in most
cases it can take time to experience true healing. And with time you
may become frustrated. Does this scenario sound familiar? Do you get
frustrated waiting to get well? Do you want your symptoms to
immediately disappear? Do you find your inner voice saying to your
symptoms: "Get out of my way, you're interfering with my life"?
Please
try to remember that if you have a simple problem it will be healed
quickly, but if you have a complex problem, it may take some time to
get rid of it. Symptoms are only the tip of the iceberg.
If
you want true healing, you need to remember the amount of ice under the
iceberg. True and long-lasting healing will take the time it takes to
melt down this massive growth under the surface. Your body didn't
manufacture symptoms overnight, even if that's how it appears to you,
and it might take some time to detoxify, build-up and bring you back
into balance.
The
body naturally tends towards balance. With a little push by the correct
herb, accupuncture treatment or homeopathic remedy, your body will come
back into balance itself. But patience may be necessary. If you stick
it out, you will be rewarded with the best health of anyone else you
know latter on down the line. Let them eat their Hershey bars and drink
their Starbucks... you'll have your health!

Self Care = Self Sufficiency
Education in Action
You
may have noticed that the editorial theme which ran through my last few
newsletters has been one of constitutional, or "in-depth" homeopathy.
But there are other approaches you might be interested in.
Anyone
who's been a patient of mine over the long-term has noticed my focus on
self-care and self-sufficiency. A large part of my work is devoted to
education so that you can learn how to care for yourself; not only in
times of an emergency, but also in day-to-day health problems you or
your family may encounter.
I
find nothing more fulfilling than when one of you calls telling me one
of your success stories in treating a headache, diarrhea or bee sting.
There are so many different health problems you can safely treat at
home on your own.
There
are three types of treatment: First is chronic or constitutional
treatment, which involves my assessing your entire long-term health
history and prescribing for your complete self, including your
emotional health. Second is self-care, where I try to teach my patients
how to take care of most of their daily problems themselves at home.
And
third is acute prescribing. Acute pre-scribing is what I do with the
majority of my patients. This type of treatment is meant to treat just
the health problem you are having at the time. Although I always take a
complete history, including blood tests and any other testing required,
we are treating the number one problem you come in for and not spending
much time in assessing your over-all health history. It's always your
choice!
